A Guide to Options & Accessories for Ladder Heated Towel Rails

There are three main accessories groups for ladder style heated towel rails. On this page we'll explain the options and cover the FAQs commonly asked by our customers.

Radiator Valves for Heated Towel Rails

There are three types of radiator valves generally used with ladder style heated towel rails. You can view our full selection of heated towel rail radiator valves here. Below are the most popular types and brief descriptions.

Angled or Straight?

Angled - When coupled with a ladder style heated towel rail angled valves are generally used where the central heating feed and return pipes come out of the wall. Angled valves offer the neatest finish for your towel rail installation, especially when paired with our sleeve kits featured further down this page.

Straight - Whereas straight valves are normally used where the pipe work comes up from the floor, these can either be through the floor boards or along the skirting and vertically up to the underside of the towel rail and valves.

Manual or Thermostatic?

We most commonly sell manual valves with our heated towel rails, but it is generally personal preference or specified by your heating engineer.

Manual - radiator valves will allow you to control the flow of water through the towel rail and thus the heat output. Adjustment is simply made by turning the wheel-head of the radiator valve, fully open will allow the most flow and maximum heat output, the wheel-head can be turned down to reduce the flow of water and thus the heat output of the appliance.

Thermostatic - valves control heat output in a similar way to the manual versions, but can be set to a suitable level and will then adjust themselves to maintain a regulated room temperature.

Sleeve Kits for Radiator Valves

Towel Rail Valve Sleeve Kit With Sleeve Kit

Towel Rail Valve without Sleeve Kit Without Sleeve Kit

Sleeve kits allow a clean seamless finish between the wall (or floor) and the radiator valve. Hiding unslightly pipework and covering gaps where pipe work goes through your floor covering. You may have to span a gap larger than the 100mm length of our sleeve kits. This may be the case if your pipes are coming out of the floor, in this case you may wish to use tails, these are similar but need to be soldered onto your 15mm pipe work, unlike the sleeves which slide over the top.
